AI features and data processing
Several StudyFlow features are powered by artificial intelligence.
When you use the AI Problem Solver in Physics or Chemistry labs, your query is sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. We do not retain your queries in a way that is associated with your personal identity beyond the session. Results are returned to your device.
All posts and solutions submitted to SolveSpace go through automated AI content filtration to detect non-academic or harmful content before publication. Filtered content that is rejected is not published, and the metadata of rejected submissions may be retained for safety and abuse-prevention purposes.
Do not include personally sensitive information (such as your ID numbers, home address, or financial details) in posts or quiz content. StudyFlow is not responsible for information you publicly disclose in community features.
Data sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following categories of third-party services strictly to operate StudyFlow:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Firestore database, Firebase Storage, Cloud Functions, and Firebase Analytics
- ImgBB (private account) — User-uploaded images (SolveSpace posts, Zero Dollar Store listings, profile photos) are stored via a private, secured ImgBB account. This account is accessible exclusively to one designated administrator and is not publicly accessible
- AI content providers — For SolveSpace filtration and Science Lab AI solver features only
- Payment processors — For subscription and token purchase processing; we do not store payment card data ourselves
- Video conferencing infrastructure — For Group Study sessions; audio/video is transmitted via peer connections and is not recorded by StudyFlow
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect the safety of users, or protect the rights of StudyFlow.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may delete specific content (Task Manager items, SolveSpace posts, Zero Dollar Store listings) manually from within the app at any time.
To request full account deletion and erasure of associated data, contact our support team. Upon account deletion:
- Your profile, quiz history, task data, flashcards, and notes will be permanently deleted
- Public posts (SolveSpace) and donations may be anonymized rather than deleted, to preserve community context
- Leaderboard archives containing your historical ranking data are retained in anonymized form for seasonal integrity
- Stripe or payment provider records may be retained as required by financial regulations
Admin access and moderation
StudyFlow is operated under full admin control to maintain a safe and academic community. The following rules govern admin data access:
Administrators can never view your personal Study Chatter messages, private notes, or other sensitive personal communications. These are strictly off-limits to all admin personnel.
- Admins can view and act on public activity: SolveSpace posts, reported content, Zero Dollar Store listings
- Admins can issue warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans to users who violate community guidelines
